4th of July Parade

Okay here comes my annual complaint about the Clearfield City 4th of July parade. And before anyone suggests volunteering to help let me tell you I did last year, join the 4th of July committee, and every single suggestion I had was either not going to work, not going to earn the city money, or was tried sometime in the last fifty years and it did not work then so it would not work now. Our parade just stinks. There is no other way to describe it. I will give credit to the two to three actual floats that were in the parade cause they deserve it. However a float is not a truck pulling a trailer with three sections of vinyl fencing with prices listed. I guess maybe because the kids were dressed in red, white, and blue it somehow ties into the 4th of July. I hear about towns that are smaller than ours having wonderful parades with floats and the high school marching band, someone local correct me if I am wrong but I do not think we had the high school band in the parade, military personnal and veterans riding in the parade. However it appears our city has sold out to the money and allows "floats" that consist of major advertising via a commerically made sign or a homemade sign on poster board of their business, a few ballons tied to the said "float" and streamers. It's like they just show up the morning of the parade and throw a few things on there. One good thing at least this year there were no check cashing business "floats."
