Zoo was school

One of the things I love about homeschooling is we can do whatever the kids want to do that day. Last Thursday the kids wanted to go to the zoo so off we went. I love the fact that our Dinosaur park membership now includes a free day at the zoo once a month. Anyway the kids had loads of fun and loved learning about all the animals. We spent almost four hours there and the kids are still talking about the animals we saw. We covered physical education (the walking), science (learning about animals), history (deciding what continent the animals were from), math (counting animals), spelling (learning how to spell new words), phonics (sounding out the names animals), and art (kids drew a picture of their favorite animal they saw that day).
