October 29

Last night we made Jack-O-Laterns. The boys thought it was so much fun. They loved looking at the pumpkins with candles in them. I guess we should have done the Syracuse pumpkin walk about with the boys. This morning, first thing after waking up, Noah had to go out and see his Jack-O-Latern. Way too cute!

October 25

So my broken bone is healing, although its not 100% healed. I don't have to wear the brace unless I'm going to be doing alot of walking or standing on my leg. I'm suppose to see the doctor in another four weeks to be sure it has healed 100%.

The boys are getting excited for Halloween. Nathan wakes up every morning asking if it's Halloween day yet. Now I'm sure the excitement is not from the actual holiday but instead because I bought Buzz Lightyear wings for the boys to wear. And laser finger pointers for them too. I really don't think they remember walking door to door getting candy and at this point I really don't think they care. All they want is their costumes.

Nathan gave up his naps at 22 months, not long after the twins came home. He never had a problem with giving up his naps and he will take one when he needs one it just never was a requirement of his. Noah gave up naps around 13 months of age when he realized his older brother didn't take naps. He had a hard time and ended up napping about every other day. Again he didn't really have a hard time at giving up his naps. Zachary has needed naps from day one. And now 2 months shy of three years of age he has given up his naps and everyday is pure torture. He still needs to take a nap but you can't convince him to take one. Personally I can't take anymore of his tiredness. I've decided that his screeching are his form of telling me he's tired. However I can't get him to take a nap. I've tried everything but he is totally against it. Tuesday night I did get him to bed around 9p.m. (all of our boys usually stay up till about 10pm) and Wednesday he slept until about 9 a.m. and was quite pleasnat for half of the day. The other half of the day started the screeching again. I did get him to take one hour Wednesday after and just sit down and take it easy but it didn't make him fall asleep. Last night I was able to get him to bed around 7:45pm and he was asleep by 8pm so hopefully today will be much better. It's almost 10am and he is still asleep. I think the poor kid has been so tired for awhile and just really needed to catch up on sleep. Guess I'll find out as the day goes on today.
Funny, though, how each child is so different when it comes to sleep.

October 22

We took the boys to the Boo-naza at the aquatic center last night and they had lots of fun. Although I think Noah had more fun playing in the snow while we waited for everyone to come out of the house. All kinds of little kid games for the kids to play. Noah got in line to play a game where you roll the balls and try to get your ball to go into the slot where the bull's eye is. He watched the older kids roll the balls slowly and gently and on his turn he was very careful about rolling his balls. He hit the bull's eye not once but twice. It was so funny to watch him study the older boys and than do what they did. Zachary enjoyed the little minature golf range they had and was quite serious about hitting the ball with the club. Nathan, on the other hand, was bored after the first hole and would pick his ball up and move it as close as he could to the cup and than hit it with the club. Noah didn't do this activity because he went to see the live snake show. All three boys loved the big blowup obstacle course.

A few holiday crafts I forgot to mention in the other post:
Pillowcase ghost- I gave each kid a while pillowcase that I had cut out arm holes and eyes and let them paint the case with fabric markers.
Halloween scene- Gave each child a huge piece of white fabric and paint. I told them to paint a Halloween scence on the fabric.

October 16

Not an update of anything but I wanted to write down some of the crafts we've done for Halloween so far:
1. Pumpkin patches- made from modeling clay that we painted, cardboard, and sticks. Turned out okay but was a little too complicated for the kids this year.
2. Gingerbread haunted houses- Huge flop. First I was too lazy to actually make gingerbread and instead used graham crackers. Second, again I was lazy and used store bought frosting which was not a hit at all. Third, I'm not creative in the slightest so the houses looked like plain squares. Fourth, the boys didn't like touching the frosting and cried anytime it was on their hands. Fifth, the candy that they didn't like was just dumped on their house and the candy they did like was eaten. Huge sugar rush that seemed to take days to wear off.
3. Footprint ghosts- Finally a craft that was a hit with the boys. I took black construction paper and laid it on the floor. Next I painted everyones feet with white paint and helped them step onto the paper. After the footprints had dried we cut out the foot shapes and attached wiggly eyes to the heels and had ghosts. They are now hanging in the window.
4. Flying ghosts- Took white squares of linen and place them over small dixie cups. Spray them with starch and shaped them into ghost shapes. Allowed them to dry then attached a string and hung them up in trees. We also added eyes and a nose. This one didn't have alot of child involvement but they did spray the starch on the fabric and stood under the tree making ghost noises afterwards
5. Spiders and spider webs- Took black paper and place it in a shoebox. Coated 4 marbles with white paint and dropped them in the shoebox. The boys than shaked the box for awhile. This was our spider web. For the spiders we took pompoms and glued pipe cleaners to them and wiggly eyes. This was fun although doing the spiders was hard with the boys.

We have a few more crafts to do and I'll add them in as we finish them.

October 15

I have something that the military would pay big money for, what is it? I have a child whose screeching can drive someone insane. I really think they could use him to break any person they want information from. His screeching is so bad now I can barely make it one minute before I'm insane. It's so bad his brothers plug their ears with their fingers and cry. Plus he does it so much during the day by evening his voice is hoarse. Don't even get me started on the whining. At least he doesn't throw temper tantrums like his twin. I don't know which is worse the twin who screechs so loud your ears rings for hours or the twin who body slams his body to the ground in a temper tantrum.

We took the boys swimming today for the first time since the end of August. The boys had so much fun and really enjoyed being back in the pool. We had the pool basically to ourselves and most of the lifeguards remembered the boys. Each boy went down the big slide with dad twice and none had any troubles getting back into the jump and swim back to the edge of the pool. We were only asked three times if they were triplets, pretty low amount since Saturday we were asked ten times. The best part of the sixty minutes of swimming, no screeching from Zachary!

October 14

We took the boys to Black Island Farms yesterday for their Halloween activities. This place was a little pricer than most of the nearby corn mazes but so worth the money. We went with Aunt Mary, Aunt Crystal, cousin Hunter, and Grandma. We had planned on meeting at 2:45 but it was raining when everyone arrived so we went and had dinner first. We made it back to the farm around 5 pm. The parking lot was so muddy but once inside it wasn't so muddy.

First stop the corn maze. I had planned on taking the kids into the little kids maze but everyone else had other ideas. We ended up doing one of the bigger mazes and all four kids had fun. They took turns making suggestions as to which way to go and they didn't fight once. I'd say we were in the maze for at least 45 minutes. After we made it out of the maze we let the kids play in the kiddie corral. They had a pumpkin bounce house, straw fort to climb on, corn box (instead of a sand box), a tire garden, a cow and pig train ride, big slides, animal alley, and pig races. Each activity was so much fun for the kids. Zach's pig won the first round of the pig race. Next we did the hay ride. The boys didn't seem to like the ride but loved picking out a pumpkin in the patch.

I highly recommend this place if you live near it:

October 10

I'm getting really bad at updating this blog.

The boys are getting better at not fighting although they still have their moments. The weather is starting to change and it's going to be quite hard when they can't go outside to burn off excess energy. They do have the big room in the basement for a playroom but for some reason they won't play for long down there. I really need to make it a point to spend time with them downstairs until they get use to it. I think having a television or something downstairs would help.

So this took me two days to get back to writing. Right after I started writing this I noticed that the house was very quiet. All three boys climbed the fence and went into the front yard to build brick houses.

We took the boys on the 10th to the pumpkin patch. Basically its a little roadside place that has a huge pile of pumpkins for people to buy. I took several pictures although not one as good as in the past. All the boys wanted to do was to climb and play on the pumpkins. When we finally told them it was time to buy our pumpkins Nathan wanted an 83 lb pumpkin. Don refused to buy him a pumpkin that big and Nathan cried for about 10 minutes. We all ended up with pumpkins that were about 15-20 lbs plus several of the really small ones. I'll post pictures later.

October 1

Well I finally made it back to the doctors to check on my leg. It's officially a broken leg, I broke the fibula bone. My doctor's appointment was at 10:15 and we left the clinic just before 1:30. The boys did okay with the long wait and delay. Of course, as usual, we were asked if they were triplets about 1000 times. The nurse in our peds office ran into us and laughed. Everyone in the peds office pool lost in the bet on who would have the first broken bone.

All three boys are becoming quite aggressive towards each other. I'm not sure how to handle this. I'm hoping its a stage and they quickly outgrow it. I also think that some of it stems from the fact all three are very close in age. I have to say I feel like I'm losing my temper with them when they start fighting.

I really think I need to get Nathan back into feeding therapy. We left a few months ago but he's going downhill in his eating and right now I can't get him to eat anything. I should have taken him downstairs for a weight check today but didn't think to till after we were home. I'd be shocked if he weighed more than 30 lbs. You can tell he is losing weight again.

Noah has learned how to use the mouse on the computer and now demands to play on the computer. I'm guessing Zach isn't far behind. I see a new computer in the not to distant future.

September 27

It's been a rough couple of days. I don't know why but the twins really need a nap but they do everything in their power to avoid naps. I wouldn't mind if they went to bed easily at night but its a battle every night. I get so tired of fighting them to go to bed. On the weekends its not a big deal as I can turn the television on in the living room and they can stay out with their dad until they get tired but during the week its a huge deal. I really need my 8-10 hours of sleep or I don't function well at all.

I had a migrane headache yesterday. Lucky for me the boys took pity on me and took it easy until dad came home. Noah kept asking if I was "o-tay" and patting my head. Nothing makes you feel better than your two year old getting himself into the perfect position to look you right in the eye, stick his fingers up your nose with one hand, and with the other patting your head while asking if your o-tay.

God bless our neighbors in the back. My boys love these two ladies to death and they are just angels with the boys. I'm not sure what problems they have but I think they are developmentaly delayed in some ways but they are just the sweetest ladies. They love the boys as much as the boys love them. They are constantly bringing treats for the boys and just love to listen to them talk and play. A couple of weeks ago they asked if they could take the boys to the park and I really wasn't sure so I went with them, the park is across the street from their house, but now I feel quite comfortable with them taking the boys. The boys listen very well for them and those two ladies are constantly looking out for the boys. We are truly blessed to have such sweet ladies living behind us.

September 20

I bought the boys some Buzz Lightyear stuff from the Disney store and it came on Monday. Well the boys were all excited over their new stuff but have really enjoyed the Toy Story masks that came. We received a Woody, Zurg, Buzz, and Jessie mask. Of course, none wants the Jessie, and they are quite good at sharing the other three masks. Whoever is wearing the Zurg mask gets to start fighting with Woody and Buzz and than Woody and Buzz defeat Zurg. They keep this up for two to three hours before taking a break from playing. Well worth the money spent on these masks. I've never seen all three boys play so nicely with any toy.

Favorite books that we've read so far for Halloween:
Room on the broom- The boys love this book. They have memorized certain parts and will read along with me. It's a very cute book with lots of reptition and fun parts.
We're going on a Ghost Hunt- Again the boys really like this book. They try to read along but haven't quite figured out all the words yet. This book is longer than the previous book and at times I find the words awkward but it is a very cute book. Again lots and lots of reptition but there are also parts where the kids can answer questions and they love that part of the book.

September 18

Wow I have not updated this blog in awhile. I've been crazy busy and just plain forgot. Let's see updates on us:
Homeschooling is going great right now. I'm amazed each and everyday at how much my kids are learning and I love to watch how they just get it sometimes. We are starting our Halloween unit this week and the boys are so excited. We also read 5-10 books every night before bed. This has become a very popular event in our house and each child has their own favorite books. We use the library to try out new books and buy ones that we really like.

Me- Didn't win at the Davis County fair for my picture but I learned alot. I was going to enter a picture in the Utah State Fair but totally spaced the entry date. I was also going to enter a bread but decided not too. I've been canning like crazy for the past few weeks. I did pickles, corn relish, pickled beets, sliced peaches, peach pie filling, frozen peach preserves, applesauce, and apple pie filling. Last week I hurt my leg and I'm slowly starting to recover.

Nathan- We gave up on teaching him to read right now. I can't find a phonics program that he enjoys and I'm not much for forcing a child into something they just don't get. He is still a huge Buzz Lightyear fan and wants everything he can get that's related to Buzz. His speaking skills are getting better but his eating is getting worse. I'm thinking of maybe putting him back into eating therapy.

Noah- What a character! This kid is a hoot. He just loves life and loves playing. He loves his wah wah (his twin) and his dogs. He's always going out of his way to take care of the dogs. He's so close to potty training but just doesn't like to stop doing anything to go use the potty. He does throw huge temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way.

Zachary- What can I say, he's a very demanding child. I lose my temper with him all the time. I think maybe he should have been an only child. He's just as big of a Buzz fan as his older brother.

August 15

I haven't posted in awhile now. Everyone is doing fine. I started tennis lessons and am having alot of fun. Now to find time to practice and play.

All three boys started preschool yesterday. We are doing preschool at home to see if homeschooling will work out for us. So far we've had alot of fun. The twins try to copy everything their older brother does. Nathan has improved quite a bit in his coloring skills. He tries to use different colors if he knows something has more than one color in it.

I entered a picture in the Davis County Fair. I know it wasn't as good as others but I had a goal to enter something in a comptetition and now I've finally fulfilled that goal. I'll let you know after we go to the fair if I won a ribbon or anything.

Tuesday July 24

Today is a state holiday and we aren't doing a thing to celebrate. Oh well we are still tired and cranky from our trip to the Great Salt Lake on Sunday.

Nathan has been asking to go to the beach for a few months now so I decided that taking him to Antelope Island would be the best we could do to get him to the beach. Well Nathan no longer desires a trip to the beach as our experience was horrible. First none of the kids like walking in the sand. Second after walking half the way to the lake in sand it changes to rough sand/dirt that feels like walking on the old time bottle caps with their sharp edges. After getting past that your back to a sandy type dirt thats still not fun to walk in. After making it to the water the boys didn't like the water which is salty and filled with lake fleas. Oh the crying they did so we headed back to the car. OMG it was worse going back then it was going down. None of the kids would walk and I was the only one who wore my sandals down to the lake so I was carrying Noah (all 40lbs of him) and Nathan, who is a good 8 lbs lighter. They screamed bloody murder the whole way and freaked out anytime I put them down, which was often as they were heavy. Once we made it back to the sand portion I thought Nathan could be encouraged to walk through it but the sand went up about 100 degrees while we spent 5 minutes at the water. The sand was so hot on our feet. By the time we made it back to the picnic area I was showing signs of heat exhaustion as was everyone else. All was not lost though we did see the buffalo (which they boys enjoyed) and some Antelope. Plus we went to the Fielding Garr homestead and the boys really enjoyed that. Next time I think we will go and plan on spending the day there as by the time we arrived we were all tired.

Friday July 20

Gosh my kids have turned into devil kids the last few days. Zachary has a fascination with dvd's and destroyed a good 25 dvd's the other day. He plays with them looking them over and over. Then he refused to sleep the other night, I'm not sure what time he finally went to bed but the last time I checked the clock it was 3:45 a.m. and he was still awake. Actually the other two haven't been too bad, its just been Zachary who has been a devil.

Yesterday we went to the Kaysville Farmers Market and I don't think we'll be going back. Maybe its just early in the season or maybe everyone just waits and goes to the big ones in SLC and Ogden on the weekends but there was really nothing there. I'm not holding out much hope for nexts weeks Clearfields market.

Last week there was an article in the paper about people returning to Sunday dinners and I think I want to do that. I'm thinking about asking my family to join us for one or two a month so it could be a big dinner but for sure our little family is going to start this tradition. I really don't care what Don thinks as he just doesn't want to install any type of traditions in our kids but I really want to. I want something my kids and think back on and remember how much fun it was.

Sunday July 15

We've been pretty busy and not spending much time online the last few weeks. I decluttered the living room and move the furniture around. We got rid of almost 2 boxes of kids toys and move alot of the toys into the downstairs play room. I also decluttered the dining room and pulled all the paneling down. Now next month we will buy paint and paint the room and then finally lay some flooring down.

The boys have been doing great. Nathan has discovered fire and contantly wants us to build a fire with him. He did find a match and tried starting his own fire the other day. We had a big talk with him about it and hopefully he won't try to do that again.

I've been working on potty training the boys. Noah is pretty much done although we have a long way to go for night time training. However he does wait till he has a diaper to poop. Also he just pees into the potty with his underwear on instead of removing the underwear. Nathan still prefers a diaper and won't run around naked and Zachary is hit and miss. Noah is the only one who knows he's about to pee and will run for the potty.

We are also working on dropping the bottles. Right now I'm focused on not allowing bottles during the day. Once we drop the daytime bottles completely I'm going to start dropping the night time bottles.

Since I've been working hard on cooking healthy meals for my family, I've decided to start a blog with recipes we try that we like. Here's a link:

Thursday June 28

I don't know whats gotten into the boys the last couple of days but they are driving me nuts. They are crabby and constantly fighting with each other. Most often its Nathan and Zachary fighting over something stupid. I've been working on the potty training this week but thats not going over well. Noah seems to think that when he feels the urge to pee he needs to run to the nearest brother or dog and pee on them.

The 4th of July is coming up. I've been trying to decide if I want to take the boys to the parade. I don't want to take them by myself and I haven't been able to get anyone who was willing to help me to commit to helping me so I think we'll be staying home. I've asked a few people and either I get brushed off or told that they may be doing other things. I think we'll head over to the park after Don gets home, just in time to have Noah enter the watermelon eating contest. Then I think we'll stay at the park and have dinner and watch the fireworks.

Honestly I've had it with most people, family members included. I thought of having a cook-out like we normally do but I hate the lets come over and eat and leave thing. I'd actually like to spend time with my family but none wants to spend time with us. I think I've finally got the hint.

Monday June 18 Part Two

I just have to share a Nathan funny. We were at the swimming pool late this afternoon and Nathan and I are standing outside the locker room waiting for the twins and Don when a lady with a little boy about age one walks by. Nathan says to the lady "Hi I'm Nathan. Why do you only have one baby? We have two, Noah and Zachary." The lady was nice and asked him if he had two younger brothers and Nathan said "No I have two babies named Noah and Zachary, why do you only have one?" The lady said "Oh do you have twin brothers?" Nathan said "Yes and we are having three more!" So the lady turns to me and says "Did I hear that correctly, your having triplets after having twins?" So I had to explain how Nathan doesn't quite grasp the concept of other people only having babies one at a time.

Monday June 18

Well I've gained 8 lbs in the last month. So instead of losing weight I'm gaining. This sucks. Almost makes me want to stop exercising since its not helping.

Today we go to the gym. We drop the kids off in daycare and head for the weight room. We workout a little then Don says I don't think parent-tot time is happening in the pool today which I know I've told him is over until summer is over. So he goes and looks at the time for swimming and comes back and says "Public swimming doesn't start until 1pm." For most this would not be a big deal but our boys love swimming so this was going to be hard when we needed to pick them up by 11am. So after doing weights I say to Don I want to go to the hot tub for awhile but he says to me we need to pick up the boys. I tell him to go change and I'd go get the boys and met him in the lobby. Guess what he did? He went to the hot tub and sat there for 20 minutes while I struggled with the boys in the lobby. He claims he didn't hear me say I was going to get the boys yet he's the one who said we needed to go get the boys. Whatever. I'm pissed and still pissed even 3 hours after it happened.

Friday June 15

Well it was our anniversity today and we didn't do anything. We were going to get take out from our favorite Greek place but my father called and wanted us to join him at the KFC up the street up from our house. He wanted to try the buffet. I couldn't find the heart to tell him their buffet is gross so we went. I don't think Don was too happy but we can get greek for lunch tomorrow and it will be cheaper. We got tons of stares because of our "triplets." I really wish people wouldn't stare, I have no problem talking about it but I just hate people staring.

We went walking again today and what a chore that was. First Nathan and Zachary didn't want to wake up and I almost left them sleep but decided I needed to go so I wouldn't slack off. Then Nathan didn't want to go. After finally getting everyone up and ready we made it to the park. The boys did better today than they have been doing but it still was a challenge. I can't wait for the day that they finally get it.

Thursday June 14

Finally got back to walking today. I woke the boys up early and off we went to the city trail to walk. Again the boys wanted to walk and then before we were done with our route they wanted to go to the playground. I ended up strapping them into the stroller and listened to them scream bloody murder for another 15 minutes before taking them to the playground. Hopefully the more we walk the more they will realise that I'm not going to let them play until we get some walking done. On another note some stupid idiot thought the trail was a ROAD and was angry at me and others for walking on the road. It took him almost 10 minutes before he left the trail with his car. Yes he was driving down the trail in his car. Next time I'll call the cops as both Don and my father were upset that I didn't.

Today Nathan worked on his "homework" and worked on the numbers 1-5. He does really good but he really needs to work on writing. He stinks. I'll have to look around and see what type of handwriting curriculm I can find. I hear that the Handwriting without tears is a good program. I wish I could get him interested in the process of learning to read. He seems quite happy just memorizing books from me reading to him but I really want him to start reading the words. We are starting the Earth school Bug curriculm this week. This covers reading, math, pe, and several other areas. The books she suggested are big hits right now with the boys so this should be a fun few weeks.

Zachary and Noah have been boogers about sleeping the last few days. They want to watch tv late at night instead of sleeping. Guess they forgot that mom declared television after 9 pm has to be shows mom wants to watch. Tonight Zachary about croaked from not being able to watch his show.

Sunday June 10 Part II

My twins have a secret language. I know I shouldn't be surprised but I didn't think it would happen. Not only do they have a secret language but they can communicate without speaking. The first time I thought it was a fluke but it keeps happening. Also the way the defend each other is cute but watch out if one is mad at the other. The do know how to push each others buttons.

Sunday June 10

What a freaking day. I hate today. I hate the fact that I'm pissed. I was suppose to go for my birthday get away from the kids today and now I'm not. Why? Because there never was a time decided and I was forgotten. Then after I call I get told that we can still work it out but hey by that time its 2 pm and I already had decided what to do for that day. The biggest thing is that I was told by my husband that the offer was only good the weekend of my birthday so now I don't get to go. Whatever. I'm use to not getting anything but for some reason it bothers me this year. Reminder for myself for next year, don't count on anything or get excited about anything.

Saturday June 9

The kids didn't go to sleep until after 1 a.m. last night. I'm not sure what time they fell asleep as I fell asleep before they did. I made them get up early this morning and they weren't too happy but thats what they get. No naps yet today, I am hoping they will go to bed early but its 8:15 p.m. and they are still running around.

For our workout today instead of going to the pool and gym we walked the path that I plan on walking during the week. Zachary walked the whole way but was so so slow. We let the boys play at the park and then went to the library where they acted like uncontrolled kids. Honestly I should not take the boys there anymore unless its just one of them. They love picking out videos and books but its too stressful with all three of them. We took them to Pace's for lunch so Nathan could have his favorite food- CORNDOGS.

I really need to get serious on the diet again. I'd really like to lose 25 lbs before the end of July.

Got this from a board I read on and found it interesting so I'm posting it here. I checked the book out from the library today and I am loving it. I think I may have to buy my own copy of the book.
Time has a really interesting photo essay showing what typical families around the world eat for a week... as well as the cost of food. I'm shocked by how much so many families spend on food... and in countries where I don't think the salaries are comparable to the U.S. I'm also shocked by how few fruits and veggies one sees in many of the pictures! You can see Coca-Cola in almost every one (except the rural families)... and Kellogg's cereal.

Friday June 8

Happy Birthday to me!!!!! Lets see, well today was a much better day then yesterday. I was willing to give my kids away yesterday but today they were back to their cute selves and if you can believe it there was no climbing today. YIPEE!!!!

Nathan was quite upset today when he found out it was my birthday. He wanted to know if his Aunt Mary made me a cake and he I told him no he insisted we make a cake ourselves. We made a cake from scratch and it actually turned out pretty good. It was quite ugly as we had a very kids who were in a big hurry to frost and decorate but its the thought that counts, right? Nathan also dumped all his toys out and picked out some "gifts" for me and wrapped them in towels to present to me. Honestly I have to give the kid credit for wanting to make sure his mom had a good day today. I heard him tell Zachary to not bug mom its her birthday.

We've been without internet for 36 hours. Honestly I was stressed about it but now I think I should have internet free days every couple of days. I got alot of things done in those 36 hours.

I asked Don about enrolling Nathan in a preschool program but he things we should homeschool to see if homeschool him through elementary will work for us. I think it will but I have my doubts every now and then. We had music/art day today and we really enjoyed it. I checked out a book from the library that had music on cd that tied in with famous art and we listened and looked. All three boys enjoyed it and Noah led the orchestra.

Going back to my birthday, can you believe my husband left me home tonight so he could VOLUNTEER his services to his work. No takeout from a favorite resturant for my birthday, no instead I ordered crappy pizza from a crappy place and wasted my free calories on crappy tasting food. Whatever, I'll get over it but right now I'm pissed.

Tuesday June 5

Today began our daily walking program. Overall it went well but I was stressed. First something is wrong with the stroller. I have no idea how it happen but one of the back wheels won't stay attached. Its not really a problem but if I move the stroller without being careful it falls off. The boys were actually pretty well behaved for most of the walk. Noah and Zachary insisted on walking most of the way (we were on a secluded trail) but they walk slow. I think tomorrow (if we go the weather is suppose to be nasty) we'll walk further since we are walking slow. After we were done walking I took them to the playground to let them play. The school district is giving free lunches at the school for kids so I was going to let them play until lunchtime started. I think they became bored at the park after one hour. Lunchtime didn't go well. First it was crowded and second it wasn't food that they really like. We ended up with chocolate milk, pbj sandwiches, and carrots. Nathan ate nothing and threw his food across the table. Noah ate about 5 bites out of his sandwich and then played with it. He did drink the milk. Zachary didn't like the texture of the bread (it was like a uncrustable) and just drank his milk. Even if the food was free that experience was not worth the time I spent fighting the kids. I ended up stopping at Paces so Nathan could have a corndog because that's what he was screaming about the whole time.

Wednesday May 30

Nathan today asked about our dog Cedes. He wanted to know where she was. I explained to him that she died Sunday but he didn't really understand. He kept asking if we could go and get her. I finally told him that we buried her in the front yard and he freaked out wanting us to go dig her up. Hopefully he'll forget about it over the next few days. I've found it quite hard to talk to him about it without crying myself and that just makes him cry harder. Our dog lived a long good life with us. She would have been 19 years old in October. I have so many memories and I'm crying everytime I think of them still. I know in a few weeks it will be easier and maybe then I can share some of the memories.

Sunday we took the boys to the Day out with Thomas. Although they enjoyed the train ride I honestly don't think they realized they were riding Thomas. I wish we had arrived earlier so we could have explained a little better. However they did have fun and I'm glad we took them. I think the biggest hit of the day was meeting Sir Topham Hat. Oh my gosh the three boys kept waving and talking to him. In fact the last 2 days they've mentioned him. I can't wait for my sister to share the pictures with us and damn my camera still being broken and not having been fixed yet. Zachary really liked the little petting zoo they had and had to touch every animal that was in there. Noah and Nathan loved the maze and Nathan mentioned going back to do the maze again.

The last two days have been nervewacking with the boys. I've lost my temper with them I don't know how many times. We've torn another 2 library books and I think I'm not going to let them get library books anymore for awhile. The twins have decided not to take naps which is driving me nuts because they really need them. The dirt hole has been the biggest attraction and we've had to give baths the last three nights. Noah is dumping stuff out like crazy and we've lost so many of my spices and flour and stuff because of it.

Sunday May 20

Boy oh boy do my boys love the water. They love to play in it and they love to swim. Too bad mom doesn't share the love of water. We take them to the local aquatic center Monday mornings and Saturday mornings to swim after mom and dad work out. All the lifeguards love watching the boys, although they are quite daring in the water. They love to jump in and sometimes will jump when mom or dad isn't there to catch them. Nathan is becoming quite the little swimmer even if he can't seem to pass 2B lesson. The twins try to copy him and aren't far away from swimming themselves. They can't lessons at the pool yet because they aren't 3. The love going down both the little kids slide (which they can do themselves) and the older slide (which Don has to take them down). Getting them out of the pool is hard and usually results in lots of tears.

Warning to the locals: Don't go to Hungry Bear Pizza between noon-3 on Saturday's. The placewas very crowded and ran out of pizza on the buffet several times. I was so frustrated the whole time we were there.

Tuesday May 8

Well Nathan was pretty sick. He had strep throat. He's all recovered now, back to fighting his brothers and dogs. He's still on antibodics but he'll be fine. He also had his first nosebleed, which may I say was not a fun experience.

Noah and Zachary and doing well. Both have a slight cough but other than that they are fine.

I think homeschooling the boys is going to be the way we go. Don has really jumped on the bandwagon and I'm having fun researching now that I know he's willing to consider it. I've joined the local homeschool group for support and ideas. Right now we are homeschooling things he'd be learning in preschool and its going well. I take his led right now, if he asks for school time we have school time. We are also reading every night before bed, about 5-10 books and thats about 30-45 minutes. His really enjoying the books (and the twins do too sometimes) and some of the books he can say the words before I get to them. I also stop and let his finish the sentences. Its not that he can read the words but he knows them after one or two times of me reading to him.

His favorite books right now:
Where the wild things are
Don't let the pigeon drive the bus
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly

Monday May 1

I've decided to take Nathan to the doctor today. After listening to him wimper all day yesterday I just can't take anymore. He also took 3 naps yesterday which is so not like him. Last night he kept waking up every 5-10 minutes. He also was running a fever, 105 at one point. His stomach region was burning hot too and was 110.

Don got a nice taste of trying to watch three boys and do other things last night. Nathan was screaming about how he needed soda pop so I left to go buy him some and left all the kids with Don. When I came home before I even stepped into the house I could just sense that something had happened. I walk through the door and there's Noah waiting for me soaking wet with his Bug Juice (a kids drink). Noah has this stupid habit of spitting his drink out in a big spray and it appears he had fun while I was gone. Turns out he'd gotten the table and all the chairs wet too. But that was not the biggest mess in the house. Zachary (for the 4th time in the last 2 weeks) had opened the fridge and taken a dozen eggs out and proceeded to crack them all open all over the dining room floor. I don't get why he thinks its so much fun to crack the eggs open but he does. Don was livid. He was so upset. Honestly I got a good laugh since he's always saying to me "I don't get why you can't do stuff in the house, I never have problems with the boys when you are gone." Pay back is a bitch sometimes.

MondayApril 30

Well its been awhile since I posted. The boys have been crazy and I've been trying to cut back on internet time. But here are some updates:
Noah was sick with croup earlier in the month but is doing better now. He's the only kid in the family who doesn't whine (thank goodness I don't know if I could make it through 3 kids whining). He loves to swing on the free swing set we scored, neighbor had one she didn't want and asked if we wanted it.
Zachary is doing well. He started to get sick too, like Noah but I started him on Orapred before he got as bad as Noah did. He's still the most daring of all the boys and I'm constantly trying to keep him out of trouble.
Nathan is suffering from allergies big time. He's not sleeping good at all and is just plain miserable. Benadryl and Clartin are doing nothing for him so I may have to break down and take him to the doctor for a prescription drug.

Don set up the swamp cooler yesterday for us. I can't believe we finally have a cooling system in place for the hot weather. Bad news our roof is in really bad shape. The tiles are coming off big time. I hope we can make it to next spring before we have to replace it.

New month this month and I have new goals for the month. They are:
1. Grocery budget of $300. Between buying mainly organics and local foods I really hope we can do this. I've organized all my coupons and here's hoping I can do it. We do get some delivered from our local dairy and although they are sort of pricey I like it.
2. Fun budget $200. This includes clothes and books and all that sort of stuff.
3. Try to get the boys out of the house at least once a week on playdates.
4. I need to start exercising again.
5. Develop some sort of cleaning routine.
6. Buy and plant annuals and get the stone for the front yard bought.

Don finally agreed with me that homeschooling our kids may be a good idea. This month I am also going to start with some basic skills for the boys to learn. Also potty training is going to be big this month. I'm hoping we can be out of diapers during the day by the end of June with all 3 boys. I'm also going to work really hard to break the bottle habit they all have.

Wednesday March 14

Wow what a day! Noah actually slept through the night but after Don left for work he was up about every 15 minutes. Made for a very cranky mom. Nathan woke up asking for dad and then was very emotional all day long. He finally pooped (after several days without) and screamed for about an hour afterwards. Everytime I asked him what was wrong I got the "I can't stop crying." Then he asked to talk to dad so I called Don at work and he starts crying again, for another 2 hours. We never did find out what was bothering him.

Another really nice spring day here in Utah. The boys spent some time outside playing in the backyard. I've decided we need some new digging toys for outside after almost all of the shovels and such broke with play today. I guess we know what's going in the Easter baskets this year.

Tuesday March 13

The weather was so nice today. The boys dressed in shorts and short sleeves went out to play in their new sandals. They enjoyed being outside so much. I'd say they spent a good 5 hours outside playing today.

Noah has figured out how to open doors which means mom needs to make sure the deadbolt is locked on the front door before taking a shower or going to do laundry. After chasing dogs for about the 30th time in the last week you'd think I'd have learned by now.

We did find out today that Noah loves to eat sticky rice. He ate about 1 1/2 cups of it for a pre-dinner snack and didnt eat any of his dinner.

I served the boys pineapple for the first time today. Nathan doesn't like it (like I didn't see that answer coming). Noah ate a few bites of his but remember he ate a ton of rice before being served dinner so I'll have to try that on him again. Zachary ate pieces of moms pineapple but wanted nothing to do with his pieces, as usual.

Something is wrong with the keyboard here at the computer and although I try to go back and fix errors I don't catch them all. The letters don't always show up when pushed. We really need a new computer.

Monday March 12

We were going to take the boys to the daycare at the gym and then swimming but they were still so tired from the musuem yesterday we let them sleep in. After they woke up we went to do a few errands.

We took all 3 boys into the produce stand for the first time. The twins were running around exploring. They loved all the candy they have there too. When they were picking apples Noah kept trying to eat the apples as they went into the bag.

Afterwards I decided to leave the twins in the car with Don while Nathan and I ran into the grocery store for some needed items. Nathan tried to talk me into buying everything he saw.

When we got home Don waited until the twins were taking their nap then he left to workout. Nathan decided that it was spring and he needed his sandals. I went and found his Buzz sandals but they were a little small on him. Plus Noah was fighting Nathan for the sandals. So when Don came home we went to buy sandals for the boys.

First stop Target. As we pull into Target's parking lot Nathan announces he wants Cars sandals and that's all he wants. Of course Target had no Cars sandals. Noah wanted the Thomas the train sandals and Zach could care less at the time so I picked up some Buzz sandals for him. We actually got out of Target without buying toys.

Next we went to Mervyn's for Cars sandals. They had some but none in Nathan's size. I had them call around but none of their other stores had any.

Off we went to Payless and we scored. Nathan was so happy. As we walked out of the mall with our new sandals on he claimed he could run faster. Back out in the car Don tells me that Zach won't wear his sandals.

Oh well!

Sunday March 11

Today we took the boys to the Utah Childern's Musuem. This was our first time going to this musuem and they had so much fun. There was so much to do and it seemed like we'd never get to all of it.

First stop in the musuem was the Beehive. You could play with plastic balls and they had different ways to play with them in the Beehive. Noah and Zachary really enjoyed this. Out near the Beehive was a big music place and all 3 boys loved playing the music.

Next they went into the construction area. In their they have tools, blocks, hard hats and such for kids to play with. They loved trying to build things with the blocks but I think the favorite spot for Zachary was next to the crane pulling up the platform.

The also had a pretend house. The twins loved playing in the kitchen setup but Nathan barely even looked at it.

They had a really nice water feature that was a HUGE hit with Nathan. The twins loved it too. All three boys really love water so you know this was a big big hit.

They loved the pretend store and farm. All three of them got to ride the house. They had cars for the boys to play in too.

Upstairs was fun too. The boys like the helicopter and enjoyed playing in that. They all took turns doing a newscast.

There was so much to do that I know we didn't do most of them. We bought a family membership so we'll go back and enjoyed the musuem again without feeling like we have to look at everything.

Here's a link if your interested in what the musuem is like:

March 10th 2007

We took the boys to daycare at the Aquatic center today. Don went to workout and I spent a few minutes in the open house for home based businesses then I went to work out. Afterwards we picked the the boys up and took them swimming.

Zachary and I were not the first into the pool, as we usually are. Noah and Nathan had made it to the pool before we emerged from the locker room. Don never makes it out before they do. Oh well, I guess Zach and I need to dress faster. They sure had fun today. Noah and Nathan made trips down the big slide with Don and Zach got to play on the steps.

After swimming we went to the library where Nathan banged another car with the door. The people were furious and insisted on filing a claim with our insurance. There were no movies that the boys wanted and I don't think they were too happy.

We went to lunch at a new place called Hog Wild. Pretty tasty food but the kids didn't eat anything, as usual. After I went into Target to get Nathan some "big" boy puzzles.

The twins stayed asleep when we got home and Nathan played with his new puzzles. Nathan received a call from his cousin Hunter and just can't understand why he couldn't just run and play with him. We did invite Hunter to the musuem with us tomrrow so we will see.

Friday March 9 2007

The boys slept late today but I was up at the normal time today. I did get the twins to take a nap this afternoon. However we never got out of our pj's. The weather was sort of iffy but they did spend some time outside playing and I did get some really cute pictures of the boys from outside.

3-07-2007

Wow what a day! The twins have decided they don't need naps although they can't quite make it through the day without one. They sure can be cranky when they haven't had a nap.

The day was nice enough that the kids went outside to play. All three of them played without fighting. They really enjoyed digging in the dirt hole we made them last year. Even Tanner, the dog, helped with the digging. I really wish the weather would get nice and stay nice so the boys can play outside most of the day.

The Backyardigans Yeti episode was on today and the boys really love that one. The run around yelling "Yeti, Yeti, Yeti" for hours after watching it.

We were going to take the boys to the grocery store yesterday but with them missing their naps I didn't want to deal with crankiness at the store. Good thing we didn't as they took a nap while I was at the store.

We had a few troubles getting them to sleep but mostly I think the problem was because they had such a late nap.
